Volkswagen remark on women goes viral
In the present world of cutthroat competition, every car maker is in a mad race to reach out to the car buyers and in this pursuit, car makers find the most amazing ways to that. Volkswagen India is the most popular among all. Not only for amazing marketing but for the controversies that ensue after the ad goes viral. The VW became infamous for the Volkswagen Polo ad that prompts the Polo owners to shoo off Rhinos by honking the Polo horn. Whereas the talking ad that it floated in the newspapers was amazing and one of its kind.

Recently, controversy surmounted the car maker regarding a Tweet it made on the micro blogging site. As per the reports, the car maker had to remove a Tweet that was termed derogatory to the women. The whole incident started off after the car maker published an ad in The Hindu and The Times of India on September 11. The ad said “Feel the shiver of excitement?” and as soon as the reader unfolds the newspaper to read on, the newspaper starts to vibrate. Taking it in an offensive, some woman tweeted saying that it is a waste of money and useless. In reply to the Tweet, someone from VW took pun on it and tweeted “Women would be dumb to call it a vibrator. Or may they do not understand real driving experience. #Punintended #Volkswagen” which was taken as a derogatory remark on women. However the remark has been removed but the bad PR of VW came to light with this incident.

Experts believe that Volkswagen could have ignored the comments or the jokes made by people on the ad and instead of reply in such an irresponsible way should have given some moderate reply. However this incident is catching fire and women organizations could take it up or if it all goes viral VW India will lose some women buying their VW Polo or Ventos.
