Volkswagen Scandal: Takes Sacrifice from CEO Martin Winterkorn in form of Resignation
The flames of Volkswagen emission scandal are still firing after spoiling company’s image across the world, resignation by CEO Martin Winterkorn has added like putting petrol on fire. Mr. Winterkorn has resigned after five days of the dramatic attempts made by company to strengthen its weakening image. In his resignation Mr. Winterkorn said that he is not culprit for anything but this resignation will pave the way of fresh air for him. Moving ahead Mr. Winterkorn said that he is surprised by the event that had taken place during last couple of days and is stunned to witness the type of working approach adopted by people in prestigious group like Volkswagen.
In the words of Mr. Winterkorn "As CEO I accept responsibility for the irregularities. I am doing this in the interests of the company even though I am not aware of any wrongdoing on my part. This is the only way to win back trust.” Resignation by Mr. Winterkorn has came at the time when his all attempts to suppress the dispute after two public apologies have failed significantly. Mr. Winterkorn has endorsed that he is “utterly sorry” after acceptance by company sources that they have intentionally integrated defective tools to 4,82,000 diesel cars sold by VW group in U.S. car market.
It would be interested to know that as an impact of these allegations and after being found culprit in integrating defective devices in more than four lakh cars the group will face penalty about $18 Billion from American Environmental Protection Agency for knowingly selling defective cars in U.S. car market
