Volkswagen Taigun India launch in 2016
With an overall length under 4-meters, the most popular and anticipated new sports utility vehicle, Ford Ecosport is ready for India launch in May this year to challenge the hit vehicle, Renault Duster. And now, into the most popular sub 4-meters sports utility vehicle segment, Volkswagen India is also ready to join its name. According to some reports, the German car maker has plans to launch Volkswagen Taigun compact SUV by 2016.
India bound sub 4-meters version of the Taigun will be based on the famous MQB platform which has also been used in popular small car Volkswagen Up. The company has recently also showcased the concept car at the Sao Paolo International auto show with a 108 HP petrol power train. Meanwhile the Indian version is reported be offered with both petrol and diesel engine options.

To challenge the Ford Ecosport and Duster SUVs, features and specs of the sub-4 meter Taigun will be made impressive, while price of the vehicle will be offered at competitive range like between Rs 7 lakh to 10 lakh. On the other hand, to strengthen the hatchback car segment, the company will launch a 1.2L TSI version of the Polo hatchback on 24 April that will give challenge to high-end variants of premium hatchback cars like Maruti Swift, Skoda Fabia, Fiat Grande Punto etc.
