Volkswagen to auction Vento and Polo IPL Edition II cars

Volkswagen will be auctioning the Volkswagen Vento IPL and Volkswagen Polo IPL edition cars albeit for a cause. The IPL edition cars by Volkswagen were special edition cars with a lot of new features and most strikingly at the same price. The Vento and Polo IPL cars were displayed at the stadium across the country and were the centre of attraction for the spectators. These IPL edition cars also carried the autographs of the team captains apart from having a lot of other striking features including IPL styling inside and outside. Volkswagen will donate the proceeds from auction to World Wide Fund for Nature - India (WWF-India).

Notably, this is the second time that Volkswagen will be donating the proceeds to the WWF and as per the statement made by Neeraj Garg, Member of Board and Director, Volkswagen cars, the auction is in line with the Think Blue campaign by the car maker. Notably, the auctioneer will also be putting some of the possessions of the famous cricket players including Chris Gayle, Virendra Sehwag, and Lasith Malinga up for auction. Those who are interested can bid on the items and the highest bidder will win the bid.

Meanwhile, sources said that just as the stands at the IPL matches were empty and the TRP rating was down for IPL matches, the Vento IPL and Polo IPL editions also could not fetch the expected response from car buyers. Overall, the craze for IPL was down and this has impacted the sale of these special edition Volkswagen cars in India. The German car maker has also auctioned the cars after the last IPL and this will be third time it will be doing so for a noble cause. Notably, the IPL edition II cars began appearing at the showrooms from March 15 onwards and its sales began last month. Now that the IPL season is almost over, Volkswagen has decided to auction the cars that are produced but could not be sold.
