Volkswagen unveiled its MQB
Volkswagen has unveiled its high-tech Modular Transverse Matrix (Modularer Querbaukasten/ MQB) platform at the Wolfsburg Head Quarter in Germany. This platform has the uniform engine mounting system for all the engines (petrol and diesel); will be equipped in the various models of Volkswagen, Skoda, Audi and Seat.
The Volkswagen Beetle, Volkswagen Tiguan, Volkswagen Golf, Volkswagen Polo, Volkswagen Passat, Scirocco, Volkswagen CC, Volkswagen Jetta, Touran, Sharan, Volkswagen Up, Soka Citigo, the next generation Audi A3 and Audi Mk7 car models will be graced with the new MQB platform. The MQB is the very first platform in the automotive industry that can be stretched from Polo to Passat size.

Company has claimed that the MQB proves to be a revolutionary innovation with transverse mounted engines that will change the dynamics of the automotive designing and production strategies. In order to make the company’s manufacturing units to the multi-brand facilities it allows the Skoda and Audi to assemble the same product line-up.

Originally, the MQB platform has been developed by the Volkswagen, enhanced by the Modular Standard System (MSB) from Porsche and Modular Longitudinal System (MLB) from Audi. The turbocharged 1.2 litre petrol engine and the 800cc diesel engine ranges have been especially designed for the sophisticated MQB platform.

Now, company is more focused to launch the light-weight vehicles and twenty new variants in safety & infotainment like muiltcollision brake. This braking system has been recently honoured by the ADAC ‘Yellow Angel’ award that will be spotted in the next-generation Audi Golf and Audi A3.
