Volkswagen Vento being exported to Mexican car market
With an objective of strengthening its position in global market Volkswagen India has started increasing its production capacity and focuses its eye on Mexico car market. As a part of first step towards this objective company has recently exported it’s highly acclaimed Vento to Mexican car market with left hand driving facility.
Prior to this India had started exporting Volkswagen Polo and Vento to about 32 countries of world since 2011 from its production plant located at Pune. In the words of Kodumudi, President and Managing Director, Volkswagen India, till last week of October 2013 company had so far exported 27,000 units of vehicles to different countries and every second car that is being exported is sent to Mexico. According to him Mexico has emerged as one of the biggest market of Volkswagen cars.
According to sources of company it had manufactured 96,000 cars at its production plant at Pune in 2012 and this year also it is expected that it will produce the same units of cars. However depending upon the requirement from market this number may change. At present 20% of cars manufactured at plant are sent in global market. According to Mr. Kodumudi, company is ready to cater the demand of market according to its requirement. He also said that company has no plans of exporting other vehicles from its fleet and currently its eyes are set on Mexican car market.
