Volvo Launches S90 in India With Price Tag of Rs. 53.5 lakh
Sweden based car maker Volvo has finally launched its luxurious sedan S90 in Indian car market with starting price of Rs. 53.5 lakh (ex-showroom price, Mumbai). Endorsed as the replacement of S80 sedan by car maker, the new S90 is regarded as the tough contender for existing sedans namely Audi A6, BMW 5-Series, Jaguar XF and Mercedes-Benz E-Class. This is third product by car maker in Indian car market during this year after successful launch of XC90 and XC90 plug-in hybrid.
At present the luxurious sedan is offered only in one trim namely D4 which is empowered with 2.0 litre, 4 cylinder engine that is capable for boosting the power of 187 bhp and torque of 400 Nm. While another trim to be named as D5 and is in pipeline will also be empowered with same engine configuration but will generate the power of 235 bhp and torque of 480Nm. The transmission system will be maintained by eight speed Aisin-Warner automatic transmission system as standard feature. Developed on company’s SPA platform and will be brought through CBU route in Indian car market.
The front fascia of S90 seems to be inspired from XC90 SUV and embellishes most of the features like front grille, sleek headlamps with Thor’s Hammer LED DRLs, large air dam, small horizontal LED fog lamps, curvaceous character lines followed by excessive use of chrome at various parts similar to its sibling. With this the molded front bumper gives sportier appearance to this luxurious sedan. Physically the Volvo S90 has the length of 4963mm. height of 1443mm, width of 1879mm, wheelbase of 2941 with turning radius of 5.7m.
Inside the cabin you will find extensive wooden work with Nappa Soft Leather Upholstery giving an appealing look. When you will enter inside S90 you will find huge arsenal of features including steering mounted audio controls, adaptive cruise control system, three spoke leather steering wheel, automatic windscreen wiper activation, two zone electronic climate control, nine inch touchscreen infotainment system, eight inch digital driver display, cleanzone air quality system and Pollen Filter, Bluetooth handsfree system and few to list more. On the safety front S90 is equipped with six airbags, brake assist system, hill start assist system and rear park assist system.
