Volvo Launches XC40 Recharge Electric SUV In India

Sweden-based carmaker Volvo has launched the XC40 Recharge Electric SUV in the Indian car market with a price tag of Rs 55.90 lakh (ex-showroom price). The company initiated the bookings of the locally assembled SUV in 2021 and launch the same in India after a few months.  But due to a shortage in the supply of semiconductor chips, the launch was postponed to 2022. Now after launching the SUV in India, the company will start its delivery in October this year. It will be available in a single trim and placed below Kia EV6 and other electric SUVs.

Under the hood, it will receive power from a 78 kWh lithium-ion battery. Once charged fully this battery gives an average of 400 km.  It is one of the electric cars that can touch the mark from 0 to 100 kmph in five seconds. Moving ahead it is also a powerful electric SUV in its segment that boosts the power of 498 hp and a torque of 660 Nm. It can reach a top speed of 180 kmph. For fast charging, it comes equipped with a 150 kW DC fast charging that will charge your SUV from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in 33 minutes only. The version of XC40 Recharge ready for sale in the Indian car market will be the same as the one sold in the international market. 
 
It is the first electric SUV that will be assembled locally in India. According to reports, the SUV will be assembled at the company’s assembling unit in Hoskote, Bengaluru. To facilitate the buyers who couldn’t book the SUV last year, the company will start accepting the bookings at the down payment of Rs 50,000 from July 27, 2022. It will come with a three-year warranty along with an eight-year warranty on batteries.
 
Speaking about features, infotainment and telematics are outsourced from facelifted XC60. It offers the facility of direct access to Google Maps and Assistant followed by support from multiple applications available on PlayStore. The list of other features includes wireless phone charging, a panoramic sunroof, ADAS tech with Level 2 Autonomous driving, front-powered seats with driver-side memory, connected car technology, and a Harman Kardon sound system.
