What Is FASTag Service At Toll Plaza, Is It Mandatory For You?
Where driving on the highway offers you the privilege of enjoying the smooth drive of your car, staying at the toll plaza is one such activity which irritates every driver. Going through this concern of the drivers the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH) is going to make the use of FASTag mandatory for all the vehicles that running on the highways from December 1, 2019. The FASTag is basically a smartcard issued to the vehicle owners for paying the toll tax at the top plaza. The system is based on Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology and automatically deducts the toll fees from the account of the vehicle owners, as soon as he enters in the toll lane. The FASTag will be fixed on the windscreen of the vehicle after activation.
According to the sources of MoRTH all the lanes at the toll plazas on the national highways across the country will be strictly dedicated for FASTag from December 1, 2019, and the vehicles not following the rule will have to double fee for crossing the toll place, which will be strictly according to the National Highway Fee (Determination of Rates and Collection) Rules, 2008.
The four-wheelers that would be manufactured and sold in the Indian auto market from December 1, 2019 will have fitted FASTags mounted on their windscreen.
