White is the most popular car color-Survey

The global car industry is filled with numerous cars and some prominent and famous car makers. To lure the consumers, these car makers launch their cars in variety of colors. According to 2012 DuPont Automotive color popularity report, the most popular color amongst the consumers is white and white pearl. The classic color like Black came out to be second position. Black is the color of poshness and luxury especially when it comes to big and bold cars. But ‘White’ bagged the top position in the report. The third position when to silver as it is in great demand in car markets like Asia and Europe.

DuPont report is actually one of the biggest and longest running report of its kind in the global car industry. It is the only report that comprise of color popularity in the automotive industry around the globe. In recent years, the popularity of colors amongst the cars have been fluctuating, but of late white has become the most popular color in all vehicle segments.

Both white and black have high popularity in China, when it comes to buying vehicles. On the other hand, Silver color is loved in countries like Brazil, India and South America. It’s true as the most popular cars in India are seen in silver and white color, these cars include Maruti Alto, Maruti Swift, Tata Indica, Mahindra XUV 500 etc. These days it is quite eminent that people are opting for black colored vehicles when buying some luxury cars. Besides these three colors, the other accepted colors in the list were gray, red, blue, brown/beige, green, yellow/gold and others in that order.

With this report, one thing is crystal clear, which is that the automotive industry and the cars do have many other aspects apart from regular things (engine, exteriors, and interiors, driving dynamics). When a consumer is buying a car, it also considers the color of the vehicle substantially and this makes the automakers launch the cars in more colors.
