American car Ford Focus recalled
Ford has announced a recall of over 1.4 lakh Ford Focus cars following a defective passenger shield windshield motor. The recall includes only those Ford Focus cars that were produced from August 1, 2010 to October 18, 2011. There have been no reports of any mishap or accident due to the faulty motor assembly but as per reports, the defect could cause the wiper to stop working and increases the rise of an accident. Notably Ford Focus compact car is now three generations old and was first launched in 1998. It is an upcoming car in India and is expected sometime in mid of this year. Meanwhile, Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) is working on guidelines for recall of cars in India as there is no governmental agency to control recall of cars.

As per reports in media, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has found that a washer in the wiper assembly of the car is defective and could go off leading to the wiper to stop working. This could lower the visibility and may cause a risk of an accident. As per reports, due to the defective washer in the wiper motor assemble water could seep inside the motor leading the motor to stop working and thus the passenger side wiper may stop working. This could lead to lower visibility and thus risk of an accident increases.

The American car maker will be informing the customers whose Ford Focus are included in a recall beginning May 21. The replacement of the wiper seal will be done free of charge and the assembly will be fixed. Notably, the car is among the best selling car worldwide and in the till March 2012 the company has sold 66 thousand units this year. In India, the car is an upcoming Ford car and is awaited this year.
