Audi recalls A6 2012 models to replace faulty airbags
The world renowned German luxury auto giant, Audi has announced a recall for Audi A6 2012 models due to having been subjected for some stitching defect in curtain airbags. As per the report submitted by the company to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), there was manufacturing error with 317 cars models that were designed between the time duration of 8th April to 26th May 2011. The head curtain airbags of defected models will be replaced free of cost by the Audi dealers, mentioned by the NHTSA.
The stitching fault in the seams of head-curtain airbags could be a severe threat for the A6 car occupant. The head curtain airbags may not deploy and would be inappropriate to protect the occupant during the crash or an accident. Therefore, the company has decided to change the curtain airbags of both the sides under their recall procedure. However, the official safety recall will set in motion by upcoming month of January but car owners have been notified about it.
The other safety features include adaptive front seatbelt load limiters, driver frontal airbag, front passenger frontal airbag, side body airbags, intelligent Electronic Stability Control, seatbelt reminder and more. There is a special protection measure for the 18 month old infant and pedestrian legs as well. Audi A6 is the luxury sedan car that has been launched in four engine options including petrol, diesel and Quattro engine variant.
