Audi set to launch used car business by this year end

The country’s third largest car luxury car maker Audi is gearing-up to mark its debut in the used car business in the Indian market by the last quarter of this year. The used car sales would be accounting for 20 percent of total new car sales in the country, as forecasted by the company. The company will launch its used car business under Audi Approved Plus brand.

In a recent statement given to reporters in Gurgaon, Audi India Head Michael Perschke said that the way Indian market is growing; it has created an opportunity in the used car market. He added that the company will start its used car business by the end of this year.

Audi India is aiming to sell as many as 5,000 units of its cars in the Indian market in year 2011, as compared to 3,003 units sold in the same month last year. The target for this month is seems achievable as the company has already sold 3,145 units of its cars in the current year.

Over the period of next four year, the company aims to grab 25 percent market share in the luxury car sales in the Indian market. Audi is at present the third largest luxury car maker in the Indian market, following BMW and Mercedes Benz at first and second place.
