Beijing Auto Show 2014: Mercedes Benz takes curtain off from C Class LWB

German luxurious car maker Mercedes Benz has taken off the curtains from its C Class long wheel base (LWB) saloon sedan during the ongoing Beijing Motor Show 2014. Codenamed as 260 L the LWB C-Class has been especially designed for Chinese car market and receives an extra 59mm additional wheelbase. In China it will compete against its strong rivals Volvo S60L, BMW 3 Series and Audi A4L. The newly showcased LWB C-Class carries most of its features from its predecessor C Class, however the additional length of LWB class differentiates it from regular C Class Benz.

The LWB C-Class is energized with 1.8 litre four cylinder engine churning the power of 201 bhp and torque of 309 Nm. It is coated with an automatic gearbox which transits power to rear wheels. With top speed of 241 kmph, this saloon sedan captures the speed from standstill to 100 kmph within the span of 7.6 seconds. It is speculated that company might offer six cylinder to this LWB C-Class after few months. However as far as diesel variant of this sedan is concerned going through the certain government laws in China it will not be launched in diesel variant.

The sedan will be produced by in collaboration of Daimler and Beijing Benz. In Chinese car market the car will go on sale by the end of this year. In India it is expected to be launch sometimes during the next year.
