Bid In Auction For Mahindra Thar To Contribute In Covid-19 Relief Aid

The new Mahindra Thar SUV is all slated for launch in the Indian car market on October 2, 2020, after it was globally unveiled on the 74th Independence Day this year. In its second generation, the new Thar is endorsed to offer lifetime experience to the buyers for driving on varied terrains without any discomfort. According to recent reports to create a buzz among the buyers the domestic carmaker Mahindra and Mahindra has initiated an auction for the first unit of the Thar from September 26, 2020, to September 29, 2020. It is reported that the highest bid received so far the second generation of Thar is about Rs. 80 lakh. It is speculated to the bid price for the first unit will cross the price of Rs. 1 crore.

Till now more than 3,800 buyers from 30 cities are reported to participate in the bid with an expectation of trying their luck in bringing the first unit of Thar to their home proudly. The reserve price of bid determined by the carmaker is Rs 25,000. The buyers willing to participate in the bid can place their bid in the multiples of Rs. 25,000. The highest bid received so far for Thar#1 is Rs. 80 lakh. Once the duration of the bid is over the bidder with the highest auction price will be informed by the company to select the variant and the colour of Thar#1 according to his preference. After which the unit will be customized with his signature leatherette seat and serial number 1 on the VIN plate.
 
The winning bid amount for the Thar#1 will go in the accounts of Mahindra & Mahindra, while the rest will go to the three organization namely the Naandi Foundation, Swades Foundation, and the PM Cares fund. All these three organizations are offering financial support for the treatment of COVID-19 victims.

Under the hood, the new Thar is offered in both petrol and diesel engines. The petrol variant is empowered with a new BS6 compliant 2.0-litre ‘mStallion’ engine that generates the power of 152 bhp and offered with an option of six-speed manual and six-speed automatic transmission system. The diesel variant is empowered with a BS6, 2.2-litre mHawk Unit and generates the power of 132bhp. The transmission duties include a six-speed manual transmission as standard followed by an option of a six-speed torque-convertor automatic transmission system.
