BMW 525d to get a 2L four pot turbo diesel engine
German car manufacturer BMW could sport a smaller 2L turbo diesel engine in the BMW F10 525D. The BMW 5 series cars are the best selling cars by BMW after BMW 3 series that are most popular across the globe. In India, the BMW 525d sedan is available in six straight cylinder petrol and diesel models. Apart from ensuring performance, BMW 5 series also epitomizes a sedan in fuel efficiency among other BMW cars. The BMW 5 series price in India ranges from Rs 44 lakh to Rs 57 lakh.

As per reports, the new smaller 2 liter engine will not compromise the performance of the car and will rather make it more fuel efficient and a performer indeed. The BMW 525d series currently sport a six-cylinder engine while the BMW 520d already has this four pot engine. BMW is thinking of putting the four pot engine in the 525d series BMW cars as well. This will not only make the BMW 525d cars cheaper than the six cylinder ones, it will also help boost the sales of BMW cars in India.

The four-pot engine is a 1995cc engine that has turbo diesel injection features. Currently it is being used in BMW 520d, BMW X1 and BMW 320d sedan. The engine can output 225 bhp of maximum power and a peak torque of 450Nm at low rpms.

It has been almost two years when BMW 5 series last had some major change. Besides this the new 2012 BMW 5 series will have a dynamic drive control feature as standard with auto start stop function and an economy mode making the sedans frugal as ever. The German car maker has also revamped the rear seats which are now even more comfortable. Apart from this, the BMW 5 series also gets new alloy wheels.
