This revelation is a major setback to BMW and Audi cars in India as these two car makers currently hold the top two positions in the luxury car segment. Where BMW is at the pinnacle and this discovery is bound to impact the brand image not just in India but worldwide. BMW and Audi cars have recently dethroned Mercedes Benz from the top slot but strikingly its engines have been found to be among the most reliable ones in the research. The study has also found Ford, Volvo, Nissan, and Fiat car engines to be among the reliable ones.
Audi has the highest engine failure rate and every 27th Audi car owner has reported engine failure, while every 45th BMW car owner has reported engine failure. This is striking and it infers that these German cars except Mercedes are not at all reliable. The engine is the heart of the car and if it is unreliable, the car can be called as unreliable. It is engine reliability besides the chassis, and transmission that the car buyers look for before buying a car. This is the reason that also affects the resale value of the car. In India, Maruti cars are considered as the most reliable cars only for the reason that its engine seldom fails.
