Fiat to launch new cars, strengthen brand in India

Fiat India is all set on a solo journey and will be completely separating its operation by early 2013. Notably, the Italian car maker had an association with Tata Motors and it shared space at the Tata Showroom across the country. However, Fiat car sales did not pick up well ever and the car maker finally decided to be on its own in the country. Now with only two offerings Fiat Linea sedan and Fiat Punto in place, the car maker has decided to completely sever itself from the Indian car maker and begin a solo journey.

Notably, the Italian car maker has not been able to sell its cars well in India for unknown reasons. Some suggest that it is the lack of products while other considers the price of the Fiat cars in India to be the deciding factor of the non performance of the cars. Meanwhile experts zero in the mix of both to be responsible for the not so inspiring sales of Fiat cars. As per sources information, the car maker has realized this and thus it will be strengthening its brand as well as launching new cars in the country. Also, there is an urgent need of attention as compared to last year; the sales are down 48 percent from April to August this year.

As part of the brand awareness program, Fiat will be opening Fiat Café on the lines of one that was opened in New Delhi as well as new exclusive showrooms will also be opened. A recent addition of showroom is in Pune and it is expected that similar ones will come up in other cities soon. Amidst this, Fiat will also be strengthening the positioning of Fiat Punto Spot which has become the most powerful hatchback in the country beating event the Maruti Swift in terms of power. This has certainly helped the car maker get some sales in the recent past. New Fiat car additions are also in the offing.
