Ford anticipates 1/3rd sales from Asia Pacific, Africa by 2020
The media recently reported that Ford Motor Company, the US car manufacturer on Friday stated that by 2020 it is anticipating 1/3rd of its sales to come from Africa and Asia Pacific constituency. This has been quoted from Joseph R Hinrichs, the Vice-President of Ford Motor Company Group.
Currently, out of 6 cars, 1 car that is sold worldly is in Asia Pacific and Africa.
Ford Motors is foreseeing 60-70% augmentation from Asia Pacific and Africa in the coming 10 years. Thus it is planning to launch over 50 new vehicles and power trains in these regions by the middle of this decade.
Hinrichs said that Ford in the middle of decade, would see a tremendous augmentation as people in rank 2 and rank 3 cities would grow economically.
The company proclaimed yesterday that they would be investing Rs. 4,000 crores to establish its 2nd manufacturing unit in India with a competence of 2.4 lakh units yearly.
This unit would be set up at Sanand, in Gujarat in an area of 460-acre.
An engine plant would also be established with capacity of 2.7 lakh units yearly. This would help in generating around 5,000 jobs in the state.
Presently, the engine plant and the manufacturing unit of Ford India are in Chennai. In its manufacturing plant, international trade and IT operations Ford gives employment to over 10,000 people.
In 2010, Ford declared that by 2015 it would be launching 8 new products in India so as to knock the escalating car market of India.
The novel version of Sedan Ford Fiesta has already been commenced this month at a cost of Rs. 8.31 lakh-Rs. 10.51 lakh (Ex-showroom Mumbai) as a part of its above said arrangement.
Some of the popular hatchback models in the Indian auto market are Chevrolet Beat Diesel, Toyota Etios Liva, Ford Figo, Maruti Swift, Hyundai i10, Chevrolet Beat and Volkswagen Polo. Apart from these popular models, cars going to hit the Indian roads this year are Force One, Nissan Sunny, Maruti Cervo and Honda Brio.
