Ford Focus electric vehicle claims faster charging than Nissan Leaf
A healthy fight among the carmakers is on, to ensure a better future to the mankind in the upcoming years. The leading global automobile manufacturers like Ford Motors, Nissan and Mitsubishi to name some are in the race to provide us with the best Electric Vehicles of the present times. The US based Ford Motors has announced that its latest all-electric version of Ford Focus will achieve the admired rating of 100 Miles per gallon gasoline equivalent (MPGe or MPGge) when it is launched in 2012 in USA.
Earlier, Nissan Leaf was given a rating of 99 MPGe along with Mitsubishi i-MiEV that is basically a four seater was presented with a phenomenal rating of 112 MPGe. But here, as challenged by Ford that Focus electric vehicle will be the first electric vehicle to touch the magical figure of 100 MPGe rating, that too with the capacity to seat five.

Miles per gallon gasoline equivalent (MPGe or MPGge) is a kind of measurement to gauge the electricity utilized by each unit of the average distance travelled by a vehicle. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of America uses this measurement to evaluate the power consumption of alternative fuel automobiles and plug-in electric vehicles.
Ford Focus electric will see its Europe launch in 2013 and is currently available in some of the selected states of America. The main area on which Ford is trying to pull everyone’s eye is the vehicle’s least-time charging capability as it takes around 3 to 4 hours to get it fully charged when used a 240V charge-station. The Focus electric vehicle’s closest contender is Nissan Leaf that takes two-fold time to get charged.

Mr. Sherif Marakby, the Director of Ford’s Electrification Programs and Engineering said that the novel charging technology in Ford Focus will surely assist its car buyers in saving a lot of money and time by cutting off the hang around time that its busy consumers have to spend in the charging of the vehicle.
He was confident that the Focus Electric will certainly reach the symbolic mark of 100 MPGe and it will be the first five-seater to achieve this milestone.
