Ford to launch new cars in India
Ford, the major car manufacturer in the US is all set to introduce more vehicles on the Indian shore. This would escalate its share in the Indian market. It would be targeting rank 2 and rank 3 cities of India.
Mr. Joseph R Hinrichis, President (Asia Pacific and Africa ), Ford motor recently stated that as 70% of the car sales in India is from small car segment, so the 8 products which the company is planning to launch in India would be in the range of Ford Figo.
For the upcoming 4 years, Ford India has declared to introduce 8 new products in the Indian auto market. These products would be in the range of its popular model Ford Figo whose present cost is Rs.3.69 lakhs and Rs.5.57 lakhs (ex showroom, New Delhi).
It is worth mentioning here that the company is achieving a swift and rapid augmentation in the Indian car segment. Its market share has tripled to 3% from meager 1% in the year 2008. 83,887 cars were sold in India by the company in 2010.
Some of the popular hatchback models in the Indian auto market are Chevrolet Beat Diesel, Toyota Etios Liva, Maruti Swift, Hyundai i10, Chevrolet Beat and Volkswagen Polo. Apart from these popular models, cars going to hit the Indian roads this year are Force One, Maruti Cervo and Honda Brio.
