Ford’s Driving Skills for Life program launched in India

The India unit of the US based leading car maker Ford has launched Driving Skills for Life (DSFL) program in the country. The DSFL program was first introduced in the Ford’s base market US in year 2003. The company will be working at improving driving skills of the drivers along during this program. The program will also educate the drivers on safety and reducing the possibility of the accident.

While commenting on the unique initiative taken by the company, Nigel Wark, Executive Director of Marketing Sales and Service for Ford India, said that Ford has a long-term commitment to India as the company continues to produce and sell more cars in the country. He added that it is Ford’s obligation to do what it can to help improve road safety, fuel economy and cost of ownership.

Mr. Nigel Wark elaborated that by following a few simple rules that will be taught during this program, the India drivers can improve cost of driving and safety, exceptionally.

The DSFL program was launched in the Indian auto market in year 2009, and the company has trained more than 2,000 drivers through this program, so far. In this year’s program, the company will train over 1500 participants across the Indian auto market. The company is aggressively promoting the program in the country.

Some of the popular hatchback models in the Indian auto market are Chevrolet Beat Diesel, Toyota Etios Liva, Ford Figo, Maruti Swift, Hyundai i10, Chevrolet Beat and Volkswagen Polo. Apart from these popular models, cars going to hit the Indian roads this year are Force One, Nissan Sunny, Maruti Cervo and Honda Brio.
