Generation Next Mahindra Thar Under Production
According to recent reports domestic car maker Maindra and Mahindra is working on developing the generation next generation of its bestselling SUV Thar and will launch the same in the Indian car market sometimes during the next year. The reports suggest that the new Thar will be larger than its existing version and will be developed on the new platform, which will also be used by the car maker in other SUVs manufactured by it in coming years.

The first generation of Thar was launched back in 2010 and underwent a facelift in 2015 which included the upgraded interior, detachable soft top inside the cabin and newly developed bumpers front and rear, wheel arch claddings etc at the exterior front. Mechanically it remained unchanged and continued to be offered with the same existing engine options of 2.5 litre and 2.6 litre diesel engines. The former generates the power of 105 bhp and the torque of 247 Nm, while the later boosts the power of 63 bhp and the torque of 195 Nm. The transmission duties are performed by the five speed manual gearbox system.

It is believed that the new car maker is developing the generation next Thar to comply with the new crash test conditions that will be effective from October 1, 2019. Along with this it will also adorn an engine that will be compliant to BS-VI norms. Other contemporary features might include LED headlights, touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control and few more.
