Honda City CNG launch ahead of Diwali
If not the diesel, Honda plans to make its cars including its best selling sedan Honda City a little worth buy at a time when the petrol prices have reached new levels and petrol cars sales have received a severe jolt. Honda has plans to introduce the Honda City CNG car. However, what the auto industry and the car buyers expect is the diesel version of Honda cars in India and not the CNG or LPG models. It is not less than a wonder how Honda has been delaying launch of diesel cars when it is widely known that Indian market is fast switching to diesel as a fuel. Instead it is planning CNG models. It is believed that the Honda City price will be Rs 50,000 more than the standard petrol model. The Honda City CNG model will be launched ahead of Diwali.

Another factor that has prompted Honda to fit a CNG kit inside the City is the fast dwindling sales when most of its competitors including the Hyundai Verna that is selling its diesel version like hot cakes. Volkswagen Vento that is also doing exceedingly well than City seems to have surpassed City sales and its diesel version is also selling well than the Honda sedan. Another sedan that is giving a tough time to City is the Nissan Sunny. The upcoming sedan that will be making things tough and tougher are Renault Scala and Chevrolet Sail sedan.

The result of sticking to petrol only cars has pushed sales on almost all of its cars including Honda Brio, Honda Civic and Honda Accord taking the downside. However, there are a lot many other factors responsible for it and the slowdown in demand needs a special mention. Honda is said to have tested the CNG kit aggressively and has tuned it to keep the performance of the car intact. The CNG kit will be factory fitted and will carry the same one year warranty.
