Honda City diesel: Still making news!

The most talked about news about Honda Cars is that it will come with diesel engine or not. Several news reports use to come confirming it and others denying the same. So again a new reports claim that still the company is in no mood to bring Honda City diesel. Reports say that there are no plans to launch diesel variant of the Honda City sedan or any diesel engine car in India during 2012. Earlier, it was rumoured that the diesel variant of Honda City will be launched in the upcoming 2012 Geneva Motor Show.

The company’s top official also said to confirm that the Indian buyers have to wait for the Honda Civic diesel variant. The Indian automotive industry have been went through the various up & downs during the last 12 months including the shift in the buyers preferences and fuel price rise.

Despite all these odd market equations, the Honda Motors is growing with the great pace and doing well that don’t have any single diesel engine model in its Indian portfolio. An engineering plane of Honda has assembled the new diesel engines line-up but, still company has denied launching any diesel variant.

Honda’s very first 1.6 litre i-DTEC Turbo diesel engine will debut in the 2012 Honda Civic Sedan. This engine will be able to generate a maximum power of 120bhp and a peak torque of 300Nm. Recently, Honda has assigned an engineer’s plane to develop ex-Formula 1 engine.

The company’s official also confirmed that the smaller, downsized variant of 1.6 litre i-DTEC engine is under the development process that will be integrated in Honda’s performance cars (like Honda Brio and Honda Jazz) in future. There are gossips that company may introduce small capacity engine in the forthcoming 2012 Geneva Motor Show.
