Honda City sales improved but Hyundai Verna sales on fire
Leading car makers, Honda decreased the price of its best selling model Honda City by Rs. 44,000- Rs. 66,000 fearing competitors Volkswagen Vento, mid way through month. The initiative worked for the company but only marginally.
The closest rivals Volkswagen Vento sold 2,403 units whereas Honda could sell only 1,828 units of Honda City in the month of May. Though, in the month of June Honda City was able to sell 2,802 units and Volkswagen managed 2,457 units of Volkswagen Vento. Honda City has managed to capture the market from Fiat Linea (350 units) and Maruti SX4 (713 units) whereas Volkswagen Vento sales remain unaffected.

Still, Honda City could not reclaim its top position in the C-segment as Hyundai Verna managed to sell an impressive no. of 4,102 units in June and is the new segment king.
Hyundai has impressed the Indian Auto market by its dozens of features and attractive pricing. Hyundai Verna is expected to retain its title of segment king as 20,000 cars are already being booked.

Hyundai might have to face competition from Ford’s Global Fiesta launching in July. Whereas, Honda Siel mulling over facelifting Honda City to regain its top position.
Now, The B+ segment manufacturers are trying to make their products cost effective as they understood sentiments of Indian Buyers There will be fresh launches by other car makers like Skoda Rapid will be launched in Frankfurt and Nissan Global Sedan /V-Platform by December.
