Honda City, Skoda Superb Ambition to fight back low demand

In order to fight back the slump going on in the Indian car industry, the car makers such as Honda and Skoda have already pitched in the low feature version of their cars such as Honda City and Skoda Superb Ambition. This will not only help them sustain the bad weather but will also help improve their sales and presence in the Indian car market. The Honda City’s stripped down edition called as Honda City Corporate has lot of features absent that were part of the high end trims of the City sedan. With the lack of some features, the car makers are able to price these cars well below the entry level trims and add to the excitement for the cars as well.

Skoda had launched the Superb Ambition at a price of Rs 18 lakh that is Rs 1.6 lakh lower than the Elegance model and thus has pitched in a more lucrative almost the same car at a lesser price attracting car buyers in huge numbers. But there is a large difference between the Ambition and Elegance. The Superb Ambition has no sunroof, or Bluetooth connectivity besides, the parking sensor and cruise control are also absent. These are though premium segment features but a Superb without these looks as if its heart and soul has been ripped of it.

The Honda City Corporate edition priced at Rs 7.2 lakh is cheaper by Rs 60,000 than the regular City. This Corporate City edition has no audio system, no speakers, or any chrome finish. Thus the City is the generic City in its Corporate Edition and has no add-ons on it. Dropping these gadgets and finishes, Honda is able to drag down the price of the City to Rs 7.2 lakh making it much more lucrative. But Honda City has its own discomfort – it is offered in only petrol model and this makes it costly even if it is priced at Rs 7.2 lakh.
