Hyundai discontinues Accent from Indian car market

Indian division of Korean auto maker Hyundai Motors India Limited has eliminated its highly acclaimed sedan Accent and now speculates to bring completely a new infant in same category which will meet the purpose of both SUV and MPV.

According to Mr. Rakesh Srivastava, Senior Vice President & Division Head, Marketing and Sales, HMIL, company had discontinued Accent three months when company was producing 1,000 units of sedan every month in Indian car market. He further added that discontinuation of Accent has however open the gates of bringing a new vehicle to bridge the gap of Accent. Mr. Srivastava also said that the upcoming vehicles from HMIL will be the part of company’s strategy of replacing the existing models from market by introducing refreshed vehicles. It would be interested to know that although company has eliminated from Indian market but will continue its export to Algeria and to some other countries.

Speaking about the discontinuation of Santro, Mr. Srivastava said that no doubt company has discontinued Accent from Indian market but it has not any plans of phasing out Santro which is the ever first product launched by Hyundai in Indian market. In words of Mr. Srivastava, company has sold out 1.8 millions of Santro in Indian market during last 15 years and still every month about 4,200 units are being sold in Indian car market.
