It is said that the NEMMP has come out to be very conducive to the electric and hybrid cars and the government has doled out various subsidies for car makers that develop such cars in the country. Another big milestone that the policy has set is that it wishes to cut the liquid fuel consumption by over 2.2 million tones in the next eight years. The policy has also showered subsidies in the design and development of electric and hybrid cars. Notably, Mahindra is the single car maker that is using micro Hybrid technology in most of its SUVs such as Mahindra Scorpio, Mahindra XUV 5OO and Mahindra Quanto and it is this car maker that is coming up with the E2O electric car. Other cars such as Toyota Prius and Honda Civic and Porsche Cayenne also have their hybrid variants available.
