Mahindra Launches 2023 Thar With RWD Option
The domestic car maker Mahindra & Mahindra has launched the highly awaited Thar RWD in the Indian car market with a starting price of Rs 13.49 lakh and Rs 9.99 lakh for turbo-petrol and diesel engines respectively. Both the prices are ex-showroom prices. Under the hood, both petrol and diesel variants continue to come with the new engine configurations of 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines.

The 1.5-litre diesel engine introduced in 2WD Thar is the same engine that is offered in XUV300 and generates the power of 117 bhp. This engine option is good for buyers with a limited budget and willing to buy Thar. The 1.5-litre diesel engine comes with a six-speed manual gear transmission system. Buyers ready to buy Thar with an automatic transmission system will have to go for a 2.2-litre engine with a 4WD option. Well, speaking about the turbo-petrol engine, this is the same as offered in the Thar 4WD. It comes coupled with a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission system. There is no manual transmission system available for this variant.
Moving towards the cosmetic changes offered on the exterior and interior front, the RWD Thar looks similar to the existing version. However, the exterior comes with two coloured options, the Blazing Bronze and the Everest White. The Blazing Bronze colour option is outsourced from the XUV300. Inside the cabin, it gets an auto start/stop function accessible through a control panel mounted between the steering wheel and the driver’s door. It also receives the features like a hill descent control system, traction control, and the door lock/unlock function. All these functions are now offered on the central control system instead of the control system. The other functions offered inside the cabin are a 7.0-inch touchscreen that supports connectivity with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, LED DRLs, and electronic outside rear-view mirrors.
