Mahindra Quanto 4x4 in the making, launch soon

The Mahindra Quanto launch is the second biggest launch for the Indian SUV maker Mahindra after the launch of Mahindra XUV 500 but it is in fact the first third major launch for the Indian car industry. The first was that of Maruti Ertiga, then it was Renault Duster and now it is the Quanto launch. In order to make it more than SUV, the car maker plans to put a 4x4 mechanism soon. With the 4x4 avatar in, the Quanto SUV will be able to have a close competition with its segment rivals – the Duster and Premier Rio. Most importantly, the Quanto 4x4 version will greatly dampen the Ertiga sales as people will prefer to have an SUV at the price of MPV.

In addition to this, Mahindra also has aggressive marketing plans for the new car. After India, the SUV will be launched in several other destinations including Europe. This will be the second SUV that Mahindra is bullish about after Mahindra Scorpio and the XUV 500. Meanwhile, sources believe that South Africa and Indonesia will be the first markets of the world sprint of the Quanto SUV. In India, the car maker has plans to sell over 5000 units of the car. Together with the new Xylo and the SUV, Mahindra expects that its SUV will be a hit in the market giving tough time to its rival Tata in terms of SUV sales. Mahindra Bolero and Scorpio SUVs already sell well and have almost steady sales.

The Quanto launch is also seen as a major breakthrough as the price is extremely low and it has become the second lowest priced diesel SUV after Mahindra Thar. The other being Maruti Gypsy which is priced at Rs 5.38 lakh. With this practically the Quanto is the lowest priced SUV in the country as the Thar is a soft to SUV while it is a hard top fully covered SUV.
