Mahindra Rexton SUV to get a facelift, is it the same SUV for India

There are recent reports that suggest that the upcoming SUV, Ssangyong Mahindra Rexton had received a facelift and it will be unveiled at a Korean Auto show this month. This has not only stepped up the excitement for the Ssangyong Rexton SUV but also has increased its prospects in India even before its launch soon. The SUV from Mahindra’s Korean subsidiary Ssangyong is all set to be launched in India this Diwali and is expected to be priced just above Mahindra XUV 500.

The recent media reports published at many places suggest that the facelift version of the Rexton is all the more appealing and macho than the present more docile looking SUV. As part of design changes, the new Rexton has received all new frontal looks that comprise of new fog lamps, new headlamps with the daytime running lights and a new bumper. The front grill now gives more space for the SUV to breathe. Notably, this is a concept model and whether it would go into production or not is still unclear. However, if it goes into production and the same version arrives in India or perhaps this could be built in India, then nobody could stop it from being an instant hit, informed sources said. A 2.7 L turbo diesel engine will be taking care of power delivery with a peak power output of 182 bhp.

As per the trend adopted by the company, this very same concept that will be unveiled at the 2012 Busan Auto Show in Korean will go into production as the company has introduced the Ssangyong Mahindra Korando concept lately and the very same concept entered into production. Significantly Korando is another upcoming SUV in India and will be launched one Rexton arrives and settles down in India. Also, Mahindra plans to make India a hub for the production of Ssangyong SUVs in India.
