Mahindra Scorpio Classic Enters In The Indian Army

The name of Mahindra Scorpio doesn’t require any introduction to introduce itself to SUV enthusiasts throughout the world. Despite various SUVs available in the Indian car market, the SUV is highly liked by car enthusiasts looking for a powerful vehicle with rugged looks. Now, recent reports from the domestic carmaker Mahindra & Mahindra reveal that it has received an order for 1,850 units of Scorpio Classic from the Indian Army. Earlier also, in January this year, the company received the order for 1,470 units of Scorpio from the Indian army. The ordered units of Scorpio will be used by 12 units of the Indian army.

At present, the Indian army has Tata Safari, Tata Xenon, Force Gurkha and Maruti Suzuki Gypsy in the fleet of vehicles used by it. The use of Mahindra Scorpio Classis is believed to further strengthen the efficiency of the Indian army. The Indian army will acquire the 4x4 version of Scorpio Classic, empowered with a 2.2-litre engine generating the power of 140 horsepower. It has rear-wheel drive and is mated with a six-speed manual gearbox transmission system. There is no automatic transmission system in Scorpio Classic.

Speaking about the Scorpio Classic, its engine is 55 kg light than its earlier version. According to company sources, the torque of 230 Nm is generated at 1,000 rpm. The sources of the company claim that this will improve its fuel efficiency by 15 per cent. Moving ahead, the use of cable shift helps in minimizing vibrations. The suspension system of Classic Scorpio also receives an upgrade. The other features offered in this version are automatic climate control, cruise control, a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system, fabric seats, a sunglass holder, cornering lamps and a few more.
