Mahindra Scorpio joins Sri Lankan police vehicle fleet

Mahindra Scorpio, one of the most popular sports utility vehicles in the Indian market, has added one more feather in its crown. The SUV will now be serving the Sri Lankan police force. About 485 units of the LX model of Mahindra Scorpio have been selected by the Lankan police, which will be delivered in phases by the company. As many as 137 units of all new Mahindra Scorpio have already joined the fleet of Sri Lankan police, adding new style statement to the force. The Scorpio model has been one of the most admired SUV’s in the Sri Lankan market and now it will replace the former vehicles of the police fleet.

While commenting on the development, Mahindra & Mahindra’s President, Dr. Pawan Goenka said that the company is delighted that the Sri Lankan police as well as Ministry of Defense (MoD) have picked-up Scorpio LX 4W as its preferred vehicle. He also expressed his surety that the Scorpio will prove to an asset in day to day operations of Sri Lankan police and MoD. The SUV will come loaded with the same 2.2L mHawk diesel engine along with a five-speed manual transmission system.

This is not the first time when Scorpio has been selected as the defence and police vehicle, as it has been serving a number of military and security services in different avatars. Moreover, the company sells the SUV in a number of foreign markets including the likes of South Africa.
