Mahindra XUV700 Catches Fire On Jaipur Highway
The SUV XUV700 from the domestic carmaker Mahindra & Mahindra has been in the limelight. It is endorsed to be one of the best SUVs in the Indian car market embellished with top-notch features and having the highest waiting periods. Now, once again the SUV has become the hot topic of discussion among car enthusiasts in India. According to recent reports, one owner of the SUV Mr Kuldeep Singh was travelling with his family on the Jaipur Highway, when his SUV suddenly caught fire. Fortunately, his family didn’t suffer in the incident, which happened on May 21, 2023.
In the words of the owner, his six-month-old didn’t overheat, but he noticed some flames on the bonnet of the SUV while driving and finally, the vehicle caught fire. Commenting on that, the homegrown carmaker said in an official statement, that a team of experts appointed to rectify the issue thoroughly investigated the whole vehicle and noticed that the original wires of the SUV were tempered and damaged while installing the aftermarket electrical accessories.
The statement issued by M&M reads, “Our field service team reached out to the customer and an investigation has been conducted. Our initial findings suggest that the factory-fitted/original wiring has been tampered with, to accommodate after-market electrical accessories, which could have led to the incident”.
Moving ahead, the carmaker said, it is committed to ensuring the safety standards of its vehicles and has also urged its owners to upgrade or modify their vehicles by authorized centres. The installation of additional accessories to enhance the aesthetic appearance of the vehicle is a common practice adopted by vehicle owners in India. However, sometimes in doing this the original parts and wires fitted by OEM get damaged. This not only voids the warranty of the vehicles but also increases the chances of such incidents.
