Maruti Suzuki at Manesar strives to ramp-up production, still needs December-end to get regular
Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) which is recovering from the deadlock at its Manesar plant anticipates that things will be in place at production unit by the December end this year.
After the agreement signed between the workforce and company under the supervision of Haryana administration; which resulted in the end of 14 day long standoff, the leading passenger car maker is striving hard to maximize its production, informed by a representative of MSI.
According to him, the ambiance at the Manesar manufacturing plant is pretty normal and the firm will achieve standard level of production by the end of December 2011.
The Manesar facility makes Maruti Suzuki’s SX4 sedan, A-Star and Swift models. In its normal days the production unit rolls out about 1200 vehicles per day.
The company had witnessed a loss of INR 700 Crore in the period of 14 days strike, called by its workers asking for re-induction of 64 sacked permanent workers and 1200 dismissed casual employees.
After the agreement which was under the regulation of the state government involving both the parties; the workers and MSI, the firm took back all its workers apart from the 30 labors who are still facing suspension, as the charges against them were considered severe.
The agreement stated to setup two committees namely Grievance Redressal and Labor Welfare which will comprise of the representatives from MSI management as well as the workers, so that the problematic issues between the two can be sorted out at its early stage.
The MSI representative said that the agreement focuses on the long lasting solutions of the concerns with lots of inputs taken from both the parties while the agreement was settled. He said that a kind of positive vibes were noticed among the two, while the agreement was being signed.
Earlier, because of the long waiting periods for the most wanted car; Swift hatchback, the customers had to cancel their booking orders.
