Maruti Suzuki registers a decline of 7.1 percent in December sales
The dominant market leader Maruti Suzuki India has announced a drop of 7.1 percent in the December 2011 sales, as compared to the same month last year. As per the company, the slump in the sales was a result of swell in fuel costs and higher rate of interest offered by financial institutions and banks in the country. Maruti Suzuki sold 99,225 vehicles in December 2010 against the decreased sales of 92,161 vehicles last month.

The plunge in sales of Maruti Suzuki is also resulted due to the fact that it had repetitive strikes in the recent past by its work force at Manesar manufacturing unit, which had caused production as well as financial loss to the largest passenger car maker in India. However, somebody’s loss is somebody’s gain, and at the times of anguish for Maruti Suzuki it was actually every automobile maker’s gain, because there is not one challenger for Maruti Suzuki, but many in the country. Due to manufacturing loss the company was not able to cater to the consumer demand for cars from its stable allowing the car buyer to opt for rival brands.

One important piece of information is to be noted is that Maruti Suzuki is recovering rapidly month by month from steep fall it had couple of months back. In the month of October 2011, it recorded a big descend of around 52 percent followed by a controlled 18 percent collapse in November 2011. The quick recovery can be observed with a slip of mere seven percent that it scaled in last month. With the ongoing trend, the first month of 2012 that is January will definitely turn tables for the company.
