Maruti Suzuki Swift gets 2% to 4% bookings cancelled; after effects of deadlock

The car buyers have cancelled the booking orders of Maruti Suzuki India’s (MSI) Swift model sighting stretched waiting period. The withdrawal of bookings; which came in as an adverse effect of the labor strike at MSI’s Manesar plant, ranges from two percent to four percent.

The Swift hatchback is one of the most successful car models by MSI, breaking many records in terms of advance booking for a car, after its initial launch.

Maruti Suzuki’s loss is rival’s gain, as some of its competitors like Volkswagen and Toyota has benefitted from the cancelled orders, resulting a bit rise in the bookings of Polo and Etios Liva hatchback.

Due to the trouble at manufacturing unit not a single Swift model has been received since last one or two months, informed a Maruti Suzuki dealer based in Delhi. The waiting period for petrol version is around three to four months, while diesel car buyer needs to wait for more than five months, he added.

According to the dealer, they are trying their level best to shift the consumers to Ritz model and many of sales are successfully converted.

MSI’s Managing Executive Officer for sales and marketing- Mr. Mayank Pareek stated that, the company was aware about the long waiting queue which has resulted in termination of bookings of Swift model. He further added that, the cancellation percentage was minimal, as compared to nearly one lakh bookings pending of the hatchback. At this juncture when the time is not at MSI’s side, its loyal customers are still banking upon their trusted brand which is a heartening sign, he confidently said.
