Maruti Suzuki's production goes swift

Maruti Suzuki is set to raise the production level for its highest selling car, Maruti Swift, by over 40 percent. It is also working on shifting its whole output to its Manesar plant, after the one month long worker strike, that resulted in loss of Rs. 600 crore for India's largest car maker, ended recently. In the coming few weeks, Maruti Suzuki is planning to start full-fledged production operations at second unit in Manesar.

A Maruti Suzuki official said that it would help the company to increase the output of its highest selling car, Maruti Swift, to about 17,000 units per, as compared to company's all time high of 12,000 units in a month. The automobile company would also restart full-fledged production of Maruti SX4 and Maruti A-Star.

Maruti Suzuki's whole production process for Maruti Swift, would be held at the Manesar plant, and this would help in freeing up the capacity at its Gurgaon plant. Plus, it would also help the company cut costs by eradicating the need to move panels from the Manesar plant to Gurgaon plant, for car assembly.

Maruti Suzuki has plans of cutting the waiting period for Maruti Swift, through increased production, for atleast two months. The booking figure for Maruti Swift, at present, stands at the giant figure of 1,08,000 units, the waiting period had gone due to production halt, making it eight-nine months.

The standoff between Maruti Suzuki's management and workers ended on Saturday, when the workers agreed to sign Good Conduct Bond, and the management agreed upon the workers' demand of taking back 18 suspended workers.
