Maruti Swift production back to normal

Finally, Maruti Suzuki's production of its highest selling car Maruti Swift, is back on track. On Monday, the production of the car reached the number of 500 units, which is really close to the normal production number. Maruti has planned to take the monthly output number to 18,000, in order to deliver the 90,000 bookings for new Swift, on time.

The production of the new Maruti Swift was affected for over 2 weeks, as the workers of the company's Manesar plant went on a strike after the management asked them to sign a Good Conduct Bond. Most of the workers continue the strike, however, 95 of them signed the bond and resumed work, according to company's officials.

Maruti Suzuki has also hired 50 more workers from ITI, for the Manesar plant. The total number of workers at the plant has now increased to 1,100. This will supposedly help the company to keep the production smooth and unaffected.

The workers, who are still on strike, staged a rally on outside Gurgaon mini Secretariat, asking the intervention of district authorities.

Maruti Suzuki Employees Union's General Secretary, Shiv Kumar, said that the workers are ready to work, but they won't sign the good conduct bond. He said that they met the additional deputy commissioner and have asked him to look into the matter.

Somedays ago, Maruti announced that it won't compromise with the workers, on any condition, and that the workers would have to sign the Good Conduct Bond.
