Maruti XA Alpha launch sometime in ’14, price Rs 7-9 lakh

Consider this to be shocking but it is true. As per the information, Maruti India will be starting production of its first volume puller SUV Maruti XA Alpha only by 2014-15 and this means that it is a wait for another year. Experts believe that this delay could mar the craze for the SUV that has already set in the market. Equally the delay is going to give an edge to Renault Duster and Ford Ecosport to establish itself in the country pretty well and leave little ground to graze for the Maruti SUV. But others feel that as it will be a new car by Maruti, it will be accepted wholeheartedly anytime it arrives. Meanwhile, reports also confirm that the XA Alpha price will be somewhat same as the Maruti Ertiga.
      

The under four meter SUV XA Alpha is also believed to have a different name as this is the code name for the SUV. Also being in the price band of Rs 7 lakh to Rs 9 lakh means that it will have a large number of buyers and it could become one of the best selling Maruti car as well. This is because of present dearth of a viable SUV in the Maruti stable. There are Maruti Gypsy and Maruti Grand Vitara but these are offered in petrol engine option only and this minimizes their scope when every thing anything in diesel is in demand.

Now that the production of the new SUV by Maruti to start in 2014, it is believed that it will be too late entry. But once it arrives, experts believe that it will rock the segment and people will forget Duster or Ford Ecosport or any SUV that arrives by that time. As per the information, the XA Alpha will be powered by 1.2 L K Series engine and the diesel variant will have the world famous 1.3 L Fiat sourced multijet engine.
