Maruti XA Alpha may be launch in India

Excited with the overwhelming response received by their products in the Indian market, the Japanese auto giant Suzuki is now expected to introduce their next generation of passenger cars in the Indian market through their Indian subsidiary MSIL (Maruti Suzuki India Limited). The first among the upcoming Maruti Suzuki cars in India is the XA-Alpha compact SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) which was showcased in a concept version at the Delhi Auto Expo 2012 in January this year. The new SUV is expected to be launched in the country by year 2014.

It has been speculated that the Maruti XA-Alpha compact SUV is a replacement of the company’s popular Jimny model. The new SUV is likely to be rolled-out in both petrol and diesel variants in the segment of under four meters. By keeping its length under four meters, the company is planning to save on excise duty, which in turn will help them in pricing this mode competitively where it will be competing with the likes of Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster etc.

The new S-Cross model will be launched in the global market by the end of next year. While earlier it was expected that the S-Cross model will be a replacement of SX4 series of model, now it has been confirmed that it will not be replacing the SX4 sedan and hatchback models. However, emerging markets like India are not likely to be a part of this launch as the company is aiming to sell this premium crossover to the European markets.
