Mercedes Benz recalls 5,800 cars in US

This season seems to be the season of recall. Recently Honda has recalled over 8 lakh SUVs and minivans and now it is the German car maker Mercedes Benz that has declared recall of 5800 cars in US. These Mercedes cars include models of Mercedes Benz C Class, Mercedes Benz E ClassMercedes Benz S Class and the CLK  Class and GLK Class cars. It is reportedly known that the company has recalled these cars following some fire hazard and required repair and replacement will be done during the recall. Only the 2011, 2012 models of these cars are included in the recall.

As per sources information, the recall is though not a major one but as it affects the most popular models such as Mercedes Benz CL Class 63 AMG and Mercedes Benz S63 thus it will have a great impact on the reputation of the brand. People hate those brands that float cars in the markets without much testing or possible safety checks. But as Mercedes is an established name in the luxury car segment, the recall will be possibly taken as a noble step and people will welcome it.

News reports also tell that the recall of the 5800 Mercedes cars will commence next month and the company will be replacing the fuel filter. Notably, the replacement will be carried out free of cost. It is reportedly known that some faulty flange could lead to a leakage or spillage leading to possible fire. The recall is localized to Mercedes vehicles in US only and it does not affect the brand’s car in other parts of the world including India. Meanwhile, it is believed that the latest recall will weaken the brand’s position among its rivals such as BMW and Audi as declaring this recall impacts some of the most popular Mercedes cars in US.
