New Ford Figo spotted in Chennai

Ford India seems to be a little dormant but it should be preparing itself for a longer inning in India. With the Ford Fiesta Automatic as the last launch, the car maker seems to be in the process of launching the new Ford Figo shortly. Meanwhile, the car maker is equipping itself with capacity expansion as well as it is preparing a ground for the Ford EcoSport SUV launch. Amidst the preparations for the new version of the Figo hatchback, the car maker will also be strengthening its dealer base as well as service network in India in an attempt to strengthen its hold over the Indian car market.

The Ford Figo small car is a close rival of Maruti Swift and Skoda Fabia besides Renault Pulse and Nissan Micra and was an instant hit when it was launched in the country. However, in due course of time, the car seems to be dated and in need of a makeover. Besides this, the auto industry experts believe that Ford could be planning to launch a peppier version of the Figo to take on Fiat Punto Sports and the upcoming Maruti Swift Sport. Recently, a test mule of the car was spotted in Chennai doing rounds of test of the new Figo under camouflage.

As per the sources, the front and rear bumpers along with the head lamps and tail lamps as well as the grille undergo the changes and it is expected to be a complete makeover of the exteriors of the Ford car. However, as the car was under high camouflage, it is very difficult for anybody to spot the changes but the car seemed like an entirely new avatar. Also, the test mule seems to be the improved product based on the customer feedback. Not many changes are expected. A powershift automatic gearbox could make its way on to the Figo and a near launch is what is expected.
