New Ford small cars for Indian auto-market

Ford Motors, the US auto-giant is looking ahead to launch a wide range of small cars on the Indian sub-continent by 2015 in order to mount up their market share. Sources say that the company is planning to launch a small car than Ford Figo and Ford Focus in the Indian sub-continent. Besides this, the company is also going to introduce the compact crossover, Ford Ecosport whose production mule was earlier displayed at the 2012 Beijing Motor Show.

Ford Motor Corporation, President, Asia Pacific and Africa, Joe Hinrichs stated that the company is planning to make and sell small cars that lie below the Figo. He also mentioned that the Figo was not included as the company’s global portfolio member. He also stated that that the company introduced the Figo hatchback considering the developing markets like India. Inspired from the success of Figo the company is now geared up to introduce the products which the Indian buyers actually look for.

In the fiscal year 2011-12, Ford India sold 92,748 units that enable it to grab the share of around 3.2%. The Figo did an incredible job and it contributed more than 75 percent of Ford India’s total sales. The official commented that the upcoming street whiz, the Focus would be the perfect machine for the Indian auto-market. He further commented that the Focus would be the introduced in the domestic auto-market in order to bless the buyers with the ownership of ultimate sedan. The official further commented that the buyers look for a powerful and fully loaded hatchback that suits the city driving conditions. It is expected that the company would launch Ecosport compact crossover on the Indian and Chinese shores by later this year or in the beginning of 2012.
