New Honda City CNG may come by month end

The Japanese auto giant Honda is all set to launch new CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) version of their flagship sedan Honda City in the Indian market very soon. The company is speculated to launch new Honda City CNG by the end of this month, in the starting weeks of forthcoming festive season.

As per the recent media reports, the new Honda City CNG will not be carrying a factory fitted CNG kit, instead, the kit will be fitted at the Honda dealers. It is expected that the company will price the new City CNG model about Rs 50,000 to 80,000 higher as compared to the existing petrol version of the car. Besides carrying a CNG kit, the new City CNG will also be equipped with a number of other upgraded including few changes in engine as well as suspension. Some changes in the instrument cluster are also expected to be incorporated.

The powerful 1.5L SOHC i-VTEC engine of the car powered by CNG delivers a peak power of 102 PS with a top torque of 127 Nm, in comparison to the existing petrol version’s 120 PS and 145 Nm. The new City CNG engine is tuned to run on either on petrol or CNG. The car will be compatible with the new Euro 4 emission norms.

The company has already launched the City CNG model in Thailand where it is receiving an overwhelming response from the buyers. The sedan is price at 659,000 baht in the Thai market.

Meanwhile, before the launch of CNG version of their flagship sedan City by this month end, the company is set to launch automatic transmission version of compact hatchback Honda Brio on October 18th. The new Honda Brio Automatic is expected to be priced about Rs 50,000 to 70,000 higher as compared to the manual transmission version of the car.
