New Honda Jazz diesel next year, could inherit design from Brio

The Honda Hatchback – Honda Jazz is expected to get a new embodiment next year and what has long been expected, strongly needed, and highly anticipated will happen – it will have a diesel heart. Similarly reports are coming in that Honda is working on the diesel engine for its most popular sedan Honda City and it will be the first Honda car in India to get a diesel engine. As per several media reports frequently published, the Japanese auto maker will be fitting in a three cylinder diesel engine in Jazz and probably a four cylinder engine in City sedan. Notably, all the Honda cars in India including the two above and Honda CR-V SUV, Honda Civic, Honda Accord sedans as well as small car Honda Brio come in petrol version only.

Significantly, it is after Maruti, Hyundai and Tata that Honda cars form the most trusted cars in India. Its flagship offering Honda City has been a hit and it even has lots of numbers on the sales chart despite of the rise in petrol prices. The depth of the trust for this brand can be realized with the fact that even Honda CR-V which is a big SUV is well accepted in India even if it comes only in petrol model. Honda has diesel models of its cars available in other countries and it will not be an uphill task for the car maker to launch the Honda diesel cars in India.

Coming on to the Honda Jazz that is going to come in a new shape in less than two years of its recent facelift in 2011. The Jazz being a more than hatchback car is well accepted in India for its large space and highly reliable engine and robust brand. As per the reports, the new Honda Jazz is expected to take on the shape and proportions of the recently launched Honda Brio small car that is fast catching up sales compared to Maruti Alto and Hyundai Eon. It is getting good response as an entry level car and sensing this Maruti is expected to introduce Maruti Cervo - the reincarnation of Maruti 800, soon.
