Nissan Evalia and Tata Safari Storme set to launch in India soon
We had been hearing about the launch of Tata Safari Storme ever since it was showcased at the 2012 Auto Expo earlier this year at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. Latest buzz has it that Tata Motors will finally launch Tata Safari Storme in the Indian car market in this month that is September; however the car maker has not announced the launch date yet. Recently Mahindra & Mahindra launched Mahindra Quanto compact SUV at a lucrative price. Not only has this but Nissan India also revealed the launch date of Nissan Evalia MPV which was also displayed at the 11th Auto Expo. September 25th is the day when this MPV will go on sale for the Indian customers at the Nissan showrooms across the country.
The new Tata Safari Strome is likely to come with an array of features that will help enhance the luxury quotient of the SUV. These changes include a honeycomb grille and presence of ‘power bulge’ on the SUV’s bonnet, projector headlamps, chrome plated twin exhaust vents and the reworked tailgate are some of the prominent changes that the SUV will flaunt.
The chassis and suspension of the soon to be launched Tata Safari Storme are inspired from
Tata Aria crossover which means that the SUV will be endowed with smooth driving and handling dynamics. A 2.2 litre DiCOR diesel motor with a high power of 140 Bhp and a peak torque of 320 Nm, this is the same engine that is currently powering Tata Aria crossover. Presence of disc brakes and anti-lock brake system in the Safari Storme SUV will enable the SUV to fall in the premium SUV category.
With the launch of this new version of Safari, the old version will not be phased out; both the variants will be on sale simultaneously. Competing with the likes of
Mahindra XUV 500 which has been doing quite well ever since its launch in India last year, Safari Storme will have a tough competition to survive.
