Nissan Evalia bookings open for Rs 1 lakh

The big launch from Nissan Motors India will take place on September 26, 2012, however Nissan dealers scattered across the country have received instructions from the Japanese car firm to start accepting bookings for the hotly anticipated MPV, Nissan Evalia. To book Evalia for yourself, you need to splurge Rs 1 lakh out of your pocket, yes this is the booking amount to book the MPV. However, the good thing is if you change your mind and do not wish to buy the vehicle, the booking amount will be refunded to you once the MPV is launched.

Displayed in the beginning of this year at the 11th Auto Expo, Nissan Evalia is a seven seater MPV which will be proffered with only one engine option. Expected to be rolled out in four trim levels, the MPV will come housed with a 1.5 litre K9K turbo diesel motor that can belt out 85 Bhp of power along with 200 Nm torque.The diesel mill will be harmonized to a five speed manual gearbox; it will have sliding doors, this is apparently the first MPV to have this feature in its segment that makes ingress and egress effortless as compared to the conventional swivel doors.

Thanks to the light weight of the MPV (as compared to its arch rivals Toyota Innova and Mahindra Xylo), the MPV will come with promising fuel economy figures. As per ARAI, Nissan Evalia will deliver a high mileage of 19 kmpl that is much more than its rivals, Innova and Xylo. As far as Nissan Evalia price in India is concerned, it is going to be somewhere between Maruti Ertiga, Innova-Xylo.

Therefore expect the MPV to have a price tag that starts at Rs 8 lakhs for the base model. Safety features like Anti-Lock Brake System, airbags and EBd will be incorporated in the MPV. A rear air conditioner will also be placed in the MPV to keep the passengers cool those sitting at the back.More features like power steering, manual air conditioner, electric wing mirrors, ABS, EBD with BA, multi information display will be offered on the Nissan Evalia XE variant. Twin airbags, music system with two speakers, gear indicator will be available on the Nissan Evalia XE + variant. The 2012 Nissan Evalia XL trim will come equipped with features like power windows, central locking, music system with four speakers and rear air conditioner. While the top end version, Nissan Evalia will be incorporated with additional features like fog lamps, push start button, 15 inch alloy wheels and reverse sensors with dashboard mounted camera display.

If you read carefully, we have mentioned above that the base trim of the MPV will also come equipped with anti-lock brake system, which is an important safety feature. The base version however will not have a driver airbag, if we think rationally ABS is a more important feature that driver airbag which looking at the traffic condition on the Indian roads will be used more.
