Nissan Evalia New York launch soon, India launch deferred by August
One of officials from Nissan informed Carkhabri about the Evalia MPV launch in New York which is expected to happen in a few days. However as far as the India launch is concerned the official did not provide exact launch time. The MPV was showcased earlier in the month of January at the 2012 Auto Expo that was held in Delhi.

In India, the MPV is expected to come housed with the 1.5 litre diesel engine, which is same mill that powers Nissan Sunny sedan diesel variant. Though, the Japanese auto major can revivify the engine a tad to match with the robust power output generated by the segment leader Toyota Innova and Mahindra Xylo. The MPV will have two sliding doors on the sides and one rear door apart from the two doors, out of which one would be for the driver and one would be for the front passenger. Company mulls to launch the Nissan Evalia MPV is diesel avatar, as per reports.

Nissan India is likely to place the MPV in the range of Rs 8 lakh to Rs 9 lakh, its latest counterpart Maruti Ertiga has been priced aggressively at a starting price of Rs 5.88 lakh (ex-showroom price) and one of the other anticipated MPV from Chevrolet, the Enjoy is also expected to join the band wagon soon.

Nissan Evalia will be primarily a people mover offering ample of space inside. Nissan will intensify the production capacity at its Oragadam plant and will manufacture around 4 lakh units every year. Other cars like, Renault Pulse, Renault Fluence along with other cars from Nissan are manufactured here. The Oragadam plant is set up mutually by Renault and Nissan in India.
